JSW Law Students Unite for World Cleanup Day

The World Cleanup Day event at JSW School of Law was a testament to the determination of Bhutan’s youth to make a positive impact on their environment. Thirty students, armed with a sense of purpose and a commitment to sustainability, gathered to participate in a cleanup activity that would leave a lasting mark.

A Local Eco-Hero’s Dedication to Bhutan’s Environment

At the forefront of this cleanup effort was Mr. Gyambo, a local eco-hero whose unwavering dedication to preserving Bhutan’s natural beauty has made him a beacon of inspiration. Every Saturday, Mr. Gyambo traverses the nation, cleaning various regions of Bhutan. His mission: to pick up trash left behind by individuals whose thoughtless actions harm the environment.

The Technology That Guided the Cleanup Effort

In the age of digital innovation, technology played a crucial role in the cleanup event. The students were equipped with the EcoNation, mobile app that facilitated waste management. This app allowed them to identify waste collection points, track the waste they collected, and even earn EcoCredits for their contributions to cleaning the environment. It exemplified how technology can be harnessed to enhance and gamify environmental initiatives.

This innovative platform gamifies waste management, engaging citizens while fostering transparency.

Users actively participate by digitizing waste management events – spotting disposal stations, tracking cleanups, and reporting landfills.

A Remarkable Haul: 900 kg of Waste Collected

The results of the cleanup were nothing short of remarkable. Over the course of the day, the students, guided by Mr. Gyambo and empowered by the app, collected an astonishing 800-900 kg of waste from the roadside. Much of this waste had been discarded out of sight, below the highway, hidden from the view of passersby. This impressive haul underscored the impact that a dedicated group of individuals can have when they unite for a common cause.

The Power of Collaboration: Thanking Mr. Gyambo and Partners

The success of the World Cleanup Day event at JSW School of Law would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of all involved. The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Gyambo for his unwavering dedication to cleaning their school and community area. Furthermore, the event received support from well-wishers and friends, including BlackForest Solutions GmbH and the fortunate planet AG and EcoEx, who recognized the importance of such initiatives in fostering a cleaner, greener future.

The World Cleanup Day event at JSW School of Law serves as a shining example of how individuals, guided by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, can make a significant impact. As we celebrate the dedication of these students and the unwavering spirit of local EcoHero Mr. Gyambo, let it inspire us all to take action in our communities. Together, we can create a cleaner, more sustainable world.
